The National Job Portal (NJP.gov.pk) is Pakistan's official federal government platform for job applications. Launched under the Ministry of IT and Telecom's Digital Pakistan initiative, it covers posts from BPS-1 to BPS-22 across all federal ministries and attached departments.

- Email address (use one you check regularly — job notifications are sent here)
- Date of birth exactly as on your CNIC
After entering your details, you receive an OTP on your mobile. Enter it within 3 minutes — the OTP expires quickly. Once verified, your account is created.
Pro tip: Use your own mobile number, not a family member's. NJP sends test hall tickets and results via SMS to the registered number.
Step 2: Building a Profile That Gets You Shortlisted
This is the step most candidates rush through and later regret. Your NJP profile is your CV — incomplete or incorrect information will get your application rejected at the screening stage.
Fill in these sections completely:
- Personal Information: Name exactly as on CNIC, CNIC number, date of birth, father's name, domicile district and province, religion
- Education: Every degree from Matric onward — institution, year, percentage/CGPA, certificate number. Do NOT exaggerate; it is verified
- Experience: If applying for experienced posts, list all previous employers with dates and job titles
- Skills: Computer skills, languages, professional certifications
- Documents: Upload scanned copies of CNIC (both sides), degrees/certificates, experience letters, recent passport photo
Document requirements: PDF or JPG format, each file under 2MB. Scans must be clear — blurry documents are a common cause of rejection.
Step 3: Searching for Jobs on NJP
From your dashboard, click Find Jobs. You can filter by:
- Department / Ministry
- BPS grade (1-22)
- Province / Region
- Job category (technical, administrative, etc.)
- Education required
Always check the closing date. NJP typically gives 15 days from the date of advertisement. Some positions show as "available" but are actually past their closing date — filter by "Active" to avoid wasting time.
Step 4: Submitting Your Application
After finding a suitable job, click Apply Now. The system pulls data from your profile automatically — this is why completing your profile accurately in Step 2 matters.
Review the auto-filled form carefully. Common errors:
- Domicile province does not match the job's domicile requirement
- Stated qualification level does not meet the minimum requirement
- Age calculated by system differs from your stated age (CNIC date is used)
After review, pay the application fee. NJP accepts:
- NBP bank challan (generate online, pay at any NBP branch)
- JazzCash or EasyPaisa (digital payment)
- Online banking via 1-Link
Once fee is paid and confirmed, click Submit Application. You receive a confirmation email and SMS. Save your application reference number.
Step 5: After Submission — Tracking and Test Dates
Log into NJP regularly after applying. Test schedules, roll number slips, and results are posted on your dashboard. You will also receive SMS and email notifications.
Key timelines:
- Shortlist announcement: usually 4-8 weeks after closing date
- Test/roll number slip: available 7-10 days before the test
- Result: 2-4 weeks after the written test

- Try a different browser — Chrome and Edge work best; avoid Internet Explorer
- Clear cache and cookies in your browser settings
- Try a different network — some ISPs block NJP; switch from PTCL to Jazz 4G or vice versa
- Use a VPN temporarily to bypass ISP-level blocks
- Hard-copy fallback: If the deadline is near and the portal is down, download the application form from the employing department's website and submit physically. Document this with photos in case of dispute
